A high school project
PS2Home began life as nothing more than a school experiment — a fan site built, unbelievably, page by page in Microsoft FrontPage 2000. Static HTML, no database, every edit uploaded by hand. For all its tedious tooling, the site had a cutting-edge design and navigation for its time — and it filled a gap nobody else was covering properly.
Britain’s biggest PS2 site
Traffic snowballed and PS2Home grew into the largest UK PlayStation 2 website. Working relationships with publishers, developers and manufacturers meant the site carried the best information of its day — fact sheets for virtually every PAL release, cheats, reviews and the weekly UK charts. Most of what you're browsing today was catalogued in this era.
The PS3 eclipse
The PS3 launched and the world moved on — PS2 traffic dropped hard. The team followed the audience and launched PS3 Home, and PS2Home was left to coast: much of its content went stale, and a lot of what made the site great was simply lost.
The comeback
It was decided PS2Home deserved a fresh start — bringing back the older features that made it successful in the first place, alongside new reviews for the retro games we all love. The site you're on now is that project, rebuilt once again for the modern web: every game page, cheat and chart preserved, re-organised and re-presented.
The mission isn’t over
Documenting PS2 games and hardware to the fullest is a job that never finishes. If you'd like to support the journey, you can buy games through our link — it costs you nothing extra and keeps the archive growing — or sponsor the site and put your brand behind the archive itself.
