Been waiting for this game to come out for ages, so fed up of the release dates changing, it's now feb 09, Ive now decided not to bother, by the time it gets released over hear it's all ready OLD, so guna wait a few weeks and get killzone 2 instead. If i could id give socom NO rating at all.

Right, I understand the game is not out in the UK yet but it is soon to be released.
I was lucky enough to play the beta and being a hardcore socom fan i expected great things.
The game wasn't able to live up to my expectation, the load time is unbearable, graphics are great, the ability to knife is super but the game feels quite sluggish, the character seems to be a food junkie rather than a US navy seal.In addition there are many connection problems at the current moment.
However, the reason I give SOCOM confrontation 4 stars is because it still has that characteristics that made people fall in love with it in the first place- communication is decent enough online and without a doubt SOCOM is the best game to work cooperatively with a team of randomers who first seem like arrogant gamers with too much time on their hands but eventually can become good friends.
If you've loved SOCOM then i suggest you get it, (not to mention the fact that most people played SOCOM just to talk about its flaws). If you've never played SOCOM then I would recomend renting it first, its good but I don't know if its 40 good

I was a massive fan of the socom series (mainly socom 2) which is why I opted to upgrade from a PS2 to a PS3. Since then i have been eagerly been waiting for the next installment of the Socom franchise (Socom: Confrontation) and have been exposed to various 'release dates' ranging from 2006 up til now (Dec 08). I have now come to the end of my tether and have decided that i will never buy a socom game again, instead i am buying 'Call of Duty world at war' cause at least when they say they are being released, they are.
I've also heard that the US version is riddled with bugs and has online issues making game play a complete nightmare.
i really wish i was writing & reading here about how good this game is, but i somehow think hell will freeze over before this game is released and is working properly in Europe.
PS Amazon's release date was the 28th of nov 08 and GAME's release date is the 5th of December, but i've heard it won't be this side of Christmas, so expect it around 2020

I already have this game downloaded from the american psn store. This is a 3rd person shooter so its like your rainbow 6 but much better. There were a few problems with the servers at first although iv not experianced any problems recently so by the time its out here everything should be sorted. You get to customize your own charcters one comando and one mercenary. Its clan based game you can choose what special forces you join whe you create a clan many to choose from each come with a slight diffrence in guns availabile. there are many game modes remember this is ONLINE ONLY such as extraction, demolition, escort and the usual team death match games. I think there are more game modes but most are planting a bomb or securing hostage with slightly diffrent scenarios. I love how tactical you can be working with teammates on this game as in one game it ended up our team with 3 against about 6 this forced us to work together covering each other and one picked them off one by one. This is a must buy for the people that love a third person shoooter and enjoy playing online. I dont have the headset ye but from what i hear the quality is amazing although a few saying its uncomfortable. I headset is a must for this game. I think the voice chat is cool you need to press L2 to speak over the comms or if your near the people you just speak and they hear you that includes the enemy. O and when you take cover you use sixaxis to peer round and over or duck. It also uses sixaxis for throwing grenades takes a bit to get used to can be a bit tricky. Enjoy it.
