5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   December 9, 2008
Okay, i bought this game thinking: hey GTA has bad reviews, lots of people have said this is better, and its cheaper, so why not?! - i bought it. On first inserting the disk, first mission, shoot up in a prison, jailbreak, escape in a boat whilst blowing up police with a mounted gun! fun 10/10 however i got a feeling that i didnt like this game but couldnt decide what it was, controls? cheesiness? or simply that the game was so overwhelming having to start with no money and no turf and thinking about the sheer amount of mission ahead. But after an hour messing around and doing a few missions, once you start to find your way around it just gets better and better.
In the previous GTAs (previous because i have not played the latest) you have to complete about 70-80% of the game before get to use cool stuff like helicopters, planes rocket launchers etc. Whereas in SR2 you unlock a helicopterafter the first few missions which you can access from any of your roof garages and planes can be hijacked from the airport or you can buy a hanger full of planes for $50,000 (two days earnings when your as far into the game as i am) ((only 40%!!!)) also there is no locked area of the map it is all open for roaming but you need to do missions to make the turf yours! Car customisation is brilliant i spent hours the other day just tuning all the cars in my garage, including taxis, police cars, army jeeps, tanks, anything. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO ON THIS GAME!

THINGS DEVELOPERS NEED TO WORK ON:
Firstly the little map in the corner needs sorting because when you are travelling fast it does not zoom out far enough so i am forever missing turnings!!
Secondly, online multiplayer is awful i haven't played a single game yet because it constantly says waiting for players, this is because there are simply not enough players yet!
When this game claims to have a CO-OP mode i was given the impression that it had split screen (the main reason i bought this game over gta), I WAS WRONG! however this is online and it DOES work and is infact very cool being able to free roam with another player or a friend if they also have the game, generally causing havock being able to revive each other when you die!

MY ADVICE TO YOU:
buy this game
do some missions - one gang at a time (gets you to the big money quicker!)
buy as many businesses as you can to increase your daily income, soon you will be earning $20,000 a day and then you can blow it all on cribs, cars, weapons whatever!
ENJOY!!!

4 out of 5 stars The graphics needs work   December 2, 2008
To tell you the truth the gameplay is fantastic. You can do alot more stuff on this game then GTA4. i.e. Modifly your cars, they have more clothes stores in the game, do alot more sub mission (Mugging, Stick up etc). You will get rewards for doing the sub mission aswell. You can buy music and create your own playlist to listen whilst you are driving.

On the downside of this game there's alot of glitches. You can be running down the road and half a body could be sticking out from the pavement or from a building. Cars sometimes fly from the road but whilst in mid-air, they go through walls and buliding and blow up from the inside.

OVERALL: It's a great game to play. It will keep you occupied for hours, fantastic storyline and you can do alot more on Saints Row 2 then GTA4. (IF YOU HAVEN'T BROUGHT THIS GAME THEN BUY IT)

3 out of 5 stars caution!!!!!   October 29, 2008

i am the aboves partner so i have to use her account as i don't have my own. I felt compelled to write a sort of review about this game after i spent 40 on it! if you were like me, you were slighty disappointed with the new gta, it was a next step up in gta realism but did not have the charm of san andreas, sr2 sort of recaptures the magic of san andreas but thats about it, it hasn't got much substance, i understand the people who give it 5/5 for fun and in a way i agree but this is not a review rather A WARNING for the people willing to gamble on this for a precious 40 quid, don't do it! rent or wait a few months before it comes out in the second hand games shop for cheaper! can't even lace gta's shoes! although i'm finding it lots of fun!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars better than GTA ummm yes i think it is   October 26, 2008

SR2 is top game with good detail and game play its a shame it does not have auto lock or that you can't change to much of the controller to suit your self but they are just personal gripes. it is a game that will make you smile and it is clever in what you can do and how to play, lot to do and to see have fun if u get it, if you like GTA u should like this then even with the bugs it still top game, can't wait to see what else it has to offer

this is riddled with issues, you only have to move the right analog stick and the picture tears and jumps, cars will randomly dissapear, pedestrians walk on air, jump into the sea and your greeted with silence and then a few seconds of wierd noise and then more silence, you'll hear cars driving by when the streets are empty, its a shame as this game could have been really good, but its just a poor mans gta
