poor zombies! December 28, 2008 lost for words (in a good way) Its brilliant the best game ive ever played the gravity gun is spectacular interacts with any object on the ground. I love to pick up that circular saw thing and chop the zombies in two though I feel sorry for them. I mean ok they are going to kill you but seeing them blow up when they go through lasers and worst of all when you set them on fire they scream their heads off ive got a 50 inch with surround sound speakers and I blew off my seat with a deafining scream roaring at me. I woud'nt be surprised if the whole street heard it. But everythings really great the battlefields Gordon Freeman creates especially with those flying insect things that you can command against the combine on the beach that was so cool! And I had one of the rarest experience ever on Half life 2 I saw a Human soldier get impaled by a strider's leg I asked some of my friends they did'nt believe me But I definately saw it. Anyway best games ive ever played so cool!
Orange Box December 15, 2008 Very disappointed. Was expecting action and excitment, all the games seems seem to have linear plots, after wandering around for a bit I looked on line about what to do next, as expected linear sequence of actions to progress the game. Perhaps the game gets exciting but life is just to short to spend my time wandering around aimlessly trying to guess THE plot. This ones going on ebay :-(
OK OK OK November 17, 2008 I thought this game would be good and it is but... not really my thing, sure its great value for money with 5 separate features at a great price but the puzzle solving and the long complex ghoulish levels are a pain and very annoying at times. The game play i will say however is very entertaining and is darn good fun but can be repetitive.
best compilation of the best games ever made. August 13, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
this game is so awesome because there is 5 of the best games on the market, the best being team fortress 2 which is a war game where you can choose from about 10 different classes, half life 2, episode 1 and episode 2 are all games where youre running around shooting either army men or zombies that are willing to tear your face off. portal is a puzzle game where you are trying to escape from a scientific lab called apature science whith this crazy robot that is trying to murder you, as you go along it taunts and insults you by telling you that you murdered the companion cube which is a box with a heart on it and that you have no friends.
well thought out and atmospheric shooter June 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In response to the two critisisms made against this game.
1. Graphics. Half Life two looks dated compared to COD4 etc. Personally I enjoyed the older look of half life two and the interesting level design more than made up for this. Any frame rate issues were minimal and again outweighed by the superb gameplay. episode one and two have improved graphics.
2. Empty levels. The main game does have one or two levels where there is a feeling of a large space travelled between objectives, but this provides a sense of scale and atmosphere and personally I like a variety in the intensity of action. Episodes one and two are more concentrated which in a way is a shame.
I have been playing Orange box for weeks now and love it. It has maintaned my interest and I have a sense of having been on a journey. The sound is excellent, and the puzzels add interest and challenge. I temporarily got stuck in one or two areas , but solving these problems was a case of using my brain and being inventive rather than frustrating multiple attempts at shooting things. This game makes a refreshing change from mindless first person shooters and awful film tie ins that seem to flood the market. This is class. The only critisism is that the non player characters sometimes get in the way. very minor gripe.
