4 out of 5 stars Fun...but flawed.   November 15, 2008

In my opinion, this is a BIG improvement over last years game.

The controls are less complicated (with really only Fists of Fury remaining as standard and the rest of the attributes virtually optional)and excellent graphics.

However, in my opinion, the UK has got the short end of the stick, as it seems our copies have been duplicated from a pre-finished version. I say that because of certain glaring faults which would've been picked up by any tester worth his salt such as-

If Hornswoggle is used as a manager, if you try to pick up the Shilleighly he throws in, your wrestler will freeze and you will have to re-start the match with NO Shilleighlies.

Can't drag an opponent to the ropes from the middle of the ring during an Inferno match, which is ESSENTIAL to win (to win- try to knock your opponent down right next to the ropes, stand him up, then 'rotate' VERY near to the ropes).

There are other flaws, but I think to mention them would be nit-picking and most non-obsessive wrestle-fans won't notice them, although I will say the first two copies I had were missing the 'GAME MODES' section (in which the sub-menus were 'CAREER' and 'TOURNAMENT').

1 out of 5 stars THIS GAME SUCKS   November 11, 2008

I've got pretty much every smackdown game since the ps1, but I have to say that this game sucks. There is no season mode, you just fight for belts NO story. The co-op "season" is Ray and Batishta for the tag belts, no choice of characters. Just like 2008 you can no longer select your target manually. The graphics are the same (ps2). If you go ringside you the camera angle is horrible and you can barely see the action (1 vs 1). The commentary is identical to 2008 I don't know how many times i've heard the "gimmick infringement ... Oh my God they killed..." in both 2008 and 2009.

That being said the create a finisher is OK, not great but OK. You can only create front finishers. Though this feature along with the new inferno match (normal match with fire effect, nothing great) don't make this a good buy. Stick to 2008, or better yet get Here Comes the Pain the best so far bar the graphics.
