Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 looks like a dream come true for most fans of the game. PGA TOUR 08 has successfully taken the sport to new heights of glory. With a host of wonderful new features EA Sports GamerNet, has enabled players to create and play against customised interactive content. If the previous games of the series had lacked something, it was the lack of interactivity between the game and the player. In Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08, you can record everything that happens in the game. Hit a great shot, record it and post it on the net for the world to see. The EA SPORTS GamerNet system, allows you to win special points and the exclusive rights to brag against your friends by creating your own special challenges and beating those of your rivals. This great feature has turned the game from a mere one man contest into an international arena. The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 is an arena where you wouldn’t only be competing against the computer (which can get rather monotonous after a while) but against the world.

If this isn’t enough, the Photo Game Face feature allows you to create ultra realistic characters. By merging two or more photos, accessorising them and styling them you would be able to create faces that may look rather similar to your own. It’s a great addition to the game’s already strong customisation system. If only other makers would take a leaf from Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08, we would be spared from playing with stony faced zombie eyed characters.

So the question that arises next, what else does the game have in terms of real content? Sure the customisable bling, looks good, but is it being substantiated with real gaming matter? Yes, the game has indeed improved though not by a huge deal. The game dynamics remain more or less the same, but there are several subtle changes that make it better. In Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08, you are using the left analog button to swing your club and the button “A”, to power up your shots. Here there has been an interesting change. A new three click swing feature, has been added, which offers the player greater control over the shots he plays. As suggested by the name, you have to press the A button thrice to hit the ball in the air. The first click gets the power button going, the second to achieve the optimum power and the third to get the meter to stick the accuracy.

Putting too will be a tougher in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08. EA Sports had got a lot of heat from gamers for making their putting options a bit too easy. All you were required to do was to adjust to the initial bend in the putting line and in it went. This version has modified the putting feature, by adding a “putt preview” in which you will be expected to pre-line your putt to what you think is the optimum course. The putt preview option can be used only once per hole, so you have to be dead close to your target.

Visually the game looks more realistic than ever. The greens, the trees and bunkers look a lot more natural than the previous versions. All in all it’s a great game.
